School Uniform

The school’s policy is that pupils should wear the accepted code of dress, as follows:

  • Bottle green long sleeved sweatshirt or cardigan (available to order with ‘Firs Estate’ logo)
  • Bottle green long sleeved fleece with ‘Firs Estate’ logo (only available to order)
  • White polo shirt (available to order with ‘Firs Estate’ logo)
  • White long-sleeved / short-sleeved shirt or blouse
  • Grey or black trousers / skirts
  • Green & white checked dress (girls’ optional summer wear)

Orders for garments with our embroidered school logo on are placed termly. We also keep a small stock of sweatshirts in a variety of sizes for immediate purchase. Parents/carers are notified by letter, sent home via the children, when an order is due to be placed by the school office.

We strongly advise all parents/carers to ensure that their child’s clothing is named, to make identification easy. Garments may be left in the playground, or get muddled up when the children change for PE. Nametapes are available to order from the school office and are very reasonably priced.

Book Bags

Book bags are available to purchase from the school office. They have the school’s logo screen-printed on, and make a nice addition to your child’s school uniform, as well as being a convenient way for your child to carry his / her books to and from school.

PE Kit

For Physical Education lessons your child will need a change of clothing, as follows:

  • White T-shirt
  • Black shorts / PE skirt
  • Plimsolls or trainers

We advise that the clothing is best kept in a PE kit bag (available for purchase from the school office, if wished). Once again, please ensure that all garments, plimsolls and kit bags are named. The PE kit may be kept in school on your child’s coat peg throughout the week.

Before taking part in PE activities children will be required to remove items, such as watches, which might cause injury to themselves or other pupils. Studs may be worn in ears, but children will be required to cover them with tape throughout the lesson.

Please ensure your child’s PE kit is always kept in school Monday to Friday.

Jewellery

For their own safety, please ensure that your child does not wear jewellery to school, eg chains, bangles, rings, nose studs, badges, etc. Children may wear watches if they wish.

If your child’s ears are pierced, only studs may be worn (which will be taped for PE). Other styles of earrings can cause problems, particularly at playtimes and in PE lessons.
