Religious Education

Firs Estate Primary School has no religious affiliation. The teaching of Religious Education follows the Derbyshire Agreed Religious Syllabus, which is taught in all City Primary Schools.

Although our emphasis is on Christianity, we do consider other world religions and encourage the children to understand and respect each other’s differences and similarities.

Spiritual, social and moral education is an important part of our curriculum.

Assemblies take place each week  and form an important part of the school day by giving staff and pupils a sense of group identity and an opportunity for quiet reflection. Often, classes take it in turn to present an assembly for the rest of the school.

Parents holding particular religious beliefs are entitled to withdraw their child from aspects of worship or Religious Education. Please contact the Headteacher to discuss alternative arrangements.
