Our Learning This Half Term

Spring 2 2018

Our topic this half term is The Scented Garden. During this topic we will be learning all about plant. We will find out about what plants need to grow, plants in other countries and we will even get to grow our own plant! Through art we will be exploring using chalk using the work of Georgia O’Keeffe to inspire us. For our english quality text this term we will be exploring the story of ‘Orion and the Dark’ By Emma Garlett.

Our science area for this half term is – Plants

Our theme for Religious Education this half term is – Stories with Morals

Spring 1 2018

Miss Sheldon brought her two dogs into see us. We prepared questions to ask her as a pet owner. We were very interested in the dogs and had a lot of questions to ask.

Autumn 2 2017

For Children in Need day we all got the chance to meet Pudsey Bear and give him a big hug. Jeff Rich also came into school and played the drums for us. It was very loud!

Autumn 1 2017

To complete our learning about the Great Fire of London the children chose to recreate the fire in the school playground. Throughout the week the children created tudor houses using cardboard and paper to resemble those from 1666. On the last day of term the children all watched their city burn and saw how quickly the fire spread.

Quality Stories we have read in English

Dojo Masters

Each class has two Dojo Masters. Their job is to make sure everyone is following the Firsy values; Fascinated, Independent, Respectful, Sociable and having a You can do it attitude. They also get the opportunity to greet visitors who come to visit the class.

School Council

Each class has one child who represents their class on the school council. The school council allows the children to voice their opinions and to improve their school.

Your child will receive homework in their red books. This will be given out every Friday and should be returned the following Wednesday.

There will also be half termly topic choice homework. The current topic grid in below. Your child can choose which activities they would like to do. If they get 75 points or more they will receive a prize at our end of half term celebration assembly.

Homework S2

Your child will bring home two reading books a week.  Please make sure your child has reading books in their bag, as we will not be able to give them a new one if they are not returned. Reading is a partnership so we need you to write a comment when you read with your child. Your child will receive points when they read at home, these will be added to their homework points.
