KS1 Curriculum

Look at the amazing things we will be getting up to this year..

Our topic for this term – Spring 2

Our Topic this term is all about plants and growing. In Science will be looking at what plants need to grow. We will also be growing our own Beanstalks!  In Design and Technology, we will be making scented play dough using herbs, such as lavender, basil and mint.

During Religious education, we will be looking at why some stories have morals and what we can learn from them.

We also will be celebrating World Book day on Thursday 1st April.  This year, each class will be choosing a word as a theme, in Helpful Hollies, we have chosen the word RIDICULOUS!!!   We will be making some RIDICULOUS hats for the day, here are some examples of what they may look like!!!

Quality Texts

Each half term we use a selection of quality texts to base our English lesson around. This half term, in Helpful Hollies, we will be  reading Jasper’s Beanstalk, We’re going on a bear hunt, Titch, The Little Seed and Oliver’s vegetables.

Homework Grid – Spring 2

Our learning so far this year…..

During this topic we learnt all about London and the Great fire. We built our own houses and watched what happened when fire spread from one house to another.

Our very own superhero visited school…..

During this topic, we learnt all about different animals, where they live, what they like to eat and how to care for them.  We had a very special visitor, Alfie the Chihuahua and his owner Jo.  They taught us how to approach a dog safely and how to look after a dog.
